ARLINGTON, Va., April 16, 2026 – Hanwha will showcase its shipbuilding capacity, production scale, technology transfer, and long-term investment in the U.S. defense industrial base at the Sea-Air-Space Exposition being held April 19-22, 2026, at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Md., just outside of Washington, D.C.
“Hanwha is highlighting its shipbuilding know-how, industrial scale, and advanced technology that is revitalizing the U.S. maritime industrial base,” said Hanwha Defense USA CEO Michael Coulter. “As one of the most efficient and prolific shipbuilders in the world, Hanwha is bringing modern technology and proven processes to increase production capacity in the U.S. and making long-term investments in American facilities and the American workforce. This includes aggressively looking at expansion possibilities and working with the Navy to identify new opportunities.”

● Smart Yard Welding Robot & VR Training: Hanwha is offering an on-site demonstration of its smart yard technologies, such as a lightweight, portable welding robot and a VR-based paint training simulator that are being adopted at the Hanwha Philly Shipyard and applied to our U.S. shipyard operations. This highlights Hanwha’s role as a technology partner whose integrated smart shipyard collaboration model combines robotic automation and VR-based workforce training to improve productivity, address skilled labor gaps, and support the revitalization of the U.S. shipbuilding industry.
● Ghost Commander: Hanwha is showcasing an unmanned force command-and-control vessel capable of integrating and operating multiple UxV systems, including UAVs, USVs and UUVs. A Hanwha Ocean platform serves as the demonstrator for this “mother ship” concept, which is intended to proactively shape future unmanned systems discussions and market development ahead of formal program requirements.
● KSS-III Submarine: Hanwha is highlighting its high-value submarine-building technologies, including the only diesel submarine capable of SLBM launch, lithium-ion batteries and fuel-cell-based air-independent-propulsion systems, along with end-to-end capabilities that cover concept design, construction, testing, and delivery.
● National Security Multi-Mission Vessel (NSMV): Hanwha is displaying a model of the five NSMVs that Hanwha Philly Shipyard is building for the U.S. Maritime Administration. The NSMV is a versatile, multi-mission asset designed as a training vessel for U.S. state maritime academies. It is capable of expansion into missile defense, medical support, and command-and-control roles, creating opportunities for follow-on projects and new programs.
● Medium Landing Ship (LSM): Hanwha is displaying a model of its multi-mission amphibious support platform capable of conducting amphibious operations support, troop and vehicle transport, and humanitarian assistance.
● FFX Batch III Frigate: Hanwha is showcasing an advanced frigate equipped with a modern combat system and integrated multi-function radar (MFR), capable of performing anti-submarine, anti-air, anti-surface, and electronic warfare missions. It’s a proven platform that minimizes technological risk.
● UK MARS Tanker: Hanwha is displaying a vessel that highlights its proven experience in naval auxiliary support vessels, including programs delivered for the Norwegian and UK navies.
● Medium Unmanned Surface Vehicle (MUSV): Hanwha will showcase its commitment to producing MUSVs for the Department of War with advanced capabilities and production capacity in the U.S.
● Anti-Ship Missile / Long Range Fires: Hanwha will display a family of missile variants designed for anti-ship and long-range strikes. These missiles are specifically designed to provide affordable strike capability on future weaponized MUSV platforms.
● Partnerships: Hanwha’s approach centers on developing partnerships with industry disrupters that support co-development and U.S.-based manufacturing.
